Renault DeZir

The Renault DeZir is an electric powered sports concept car  which will be showed at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. The concept is designed to a mid-engined, gullwing electric coupe.
The Renault DeZir concept features a new front-end design that previews the new front-end identity of the next Renault models. The headlights take the form of backlit prisms and the perforated ’eyelids’ add to this high-tech feel and contribute to DeZir’s specific lighting signature. Rear lighting is provided by an illuminated, seemingly floating strip and the Renault logo is highlighted by backlighting through the fins of the grille and consequently appears to hover in the middle of this space. The styling of the DeZir concept was led by Laurens van den Acker, and according to Renault it’s the first in a series of concept vehicles which will provide a glimpse of the company’s future production cars.
It is powered by a vertically mounted 24kWh rechargeable lithium-ion battery, fed to a 148bhp mid-mounted electric motor. This gives Audi e-tron-rivalling performance, with 0-60mph in only five seconds and a top speed of 112mph. Aiding the pace is a ightweight tubular steel chassis – the DeZir tips the scales at only 830kg – and a drag coefficient of only 0.25Cd. It also promises a range of 100 miles. DeZir is proof that environmental concern and a love for cars are by no means incompatible. The DeZir project is the first to have been led by Laurens van den Acker and marks the start of a sequence of concept cars that will provide an insight into Renault Design’s new vision for the future.
