Renault Kidma concept

renault kidma
Conceived by Thomas Felix for the city of Tel Aviv, Israel, Renault Kidma concept is a mobility system that suits the humanist aspirations of the city as well as its willingness to protect environment. As a result, Renault Kidma has been designed to transform the constrained time in leisure time, work, recreation, games…and a technically advanced eco friendly vehicle which runs only on renewable energy.
Kidma gets charged while parked using solar energy and when the batteries are fully charged, the vehicle then distributes the electricity throughout the electrical newtork. In the parking lot, the vehicle is active and one can see the walls moving which help create airflow to cool down the inside of the Kidma. The vehicle is propelled by electric motors that get vital energy from the batteries located in the rear of the vehicle.
The all electric Kadma is guided by the GPS and the passengers need to select their destination on the touch screen inside the vehicle. Thus, allowing access and safe transportation to the entire population. Mobility system uses nano-material and is fully customizable for passengers can change the seat position, colors, the opacity of the walls and the sound. The mobility vehicle will be available for booking through city terminals, phones or internet booking.
Thanks, [Thomas Felix]

Electric-powered Peugeot Hyperion Car Concept

marco aurelio galas peugeot hyperion concept 1
After we introduced to you Marco Aurelio Gala’s vision of futuristic eco friendly car, Asterion Concept, it’s now time to introduce you with another concept, the Peugeot Hyperion. This car is designed by Marco for the 5th edition design contest 2008, and again, is an emission free vehicle. Word Hyperion comes from Greek mythology and means a titan. The design tries to crystallize the lions roaring of Peugeot brand, at the same time it gives an answer to the intention of articulating forms and shapes that’s never been used in a conventional vehicle.
Concept car’s lines integrate it in a visual environment belonging to the space exploration era, and at the same time tries to be an artifact of an advanced technological society who minds the efficient and rational use of his own resources. Coming to the eco friendly credentials; the concept is a fully electric car which is powered by electric engine placed in its frontal part – three-phase AC synchronous motors – which gets fueled by a lithium-ion battery pack.
Vehicle’s overall dimensions include a length of 4.5m, a width of 2.5m and a height of 1.6m and its body parts are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic – in order to minimize the weight. Peugeot Hyperion concept’s top speed has electronically been limited to 125 mph.
Thanks, [Marco!]

Solar powered Solis concept

mika becktor solis

The decline in the levels of fossil fuels and increasingly cramped out space in the cities have always encouraged designers to think about harvesting the alternative sources of energy, which can propel our lives in the future at a pace we would all like it to be and create compact car designs. Keeping this thing in mind, the Swedish designer, Mika Becktor, has envisioned a compact zero emission car that offers the freedom of a motorcycle with comfort of a car while creating new and more efficient ways of transportation and parking.
Christened as Solis, the concept features in-wheel electric motors powered by solar panels mounted on the exterior of the car. Solar panels constantly produce electricity to juice up the car. The energy is stored in the battery and can also be used as a payment for parking in highly populated city areas. The car is spacious for in-wheel electric motors frees up huge space which is generally occupied by the combustion engine, suspension and transmission.
The concept is one or two person commuting vehicle wherein the back seat folds to create a large trunk space. Its dimensions are somewhat close to that of a smart car but features a low center of gravity that makes it visually safer.

Husqvarna Panthera Leo is a hybrid made up of two ride-on mowers, Rider and Zero-Turn. A battery that can be charged at any electrical outlet has replaced the traditional gas engine. Five powerful electrical motors partnered with a sound absorbing cutting deck, allow the Husqvarna Panthera Leo to glide effortlessly and silently across your lawn. The three individually suspended cutting decks enables this mower to mow smoothly over bumpier parts of your garden, avoiding lawn scalping. The cutting decks each have razor sharp blades for a close cut finish and can be controlled to suit wide or narrow lawns (from 85cm up to 120cm).
All functions are managed via paddles on the steering wheel. Via an LCD-display gardeners are told everything they need to know to achieve a perfect lawn, from how fast they are driving, cutting height, cutting width, remaining battery time, service needs and warns the user about objects that are too close. With the help of sensors, Husqvarna Panthera Leo can recommend the most suitable speed and cutting height for the perfect lawn.

Art students create bright, sparkling designs
Art students create bright, sparkling designs
First year design students at the Royal College of Art built these designs as part of the Euro K-Car project. The concepts were designed to be light and compact. Many concepts have bright lights all over the body, and in some cases, strange body shape and design. The concepts are far away from being great, but then lets hope by the time these students complete their courses, we’ll get to see better designs.

Press Release
RENAULT Renault Captur: ON THE ADVENTURE TRAIL!
• Unveiled today by Carlos Ghosn, Renault Captur is the new concept car to demonstrate Renault’s new design strategy.
• A sporty crossover with a flowing and athletic body language, it conjures up visions of two people exploring the world and previews a forthcoming road car.
• Its Energy dCi 160 twin-turbo engine-concept combines driving fun, enjoyable performance and low CO2 emissions.
At the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, Renault revealed its new brand identity which puts people at the forefront of its concerns. The new and ambitious design strategy which resulted from this is founded on different stages of the human life cycle, with each phase taking the form of a specific concept car. The first, the two-seater DeZir coupe, expressed ‘falling in love’, the passion present at the beginning of any new adventure. Now Renault Captur addresses the second phase of this cycle, that of two people exploring the world around them.
Just like its predecessor, Renault Captur defines the simple, sensuous and warm style that will be progressively extended to future Renault car designs. “Renault Captur is a fun and sporty crossover, ideal for a young couple about to discover the world” explains director of design, Laurens Van den Acker. “It takes as its basis the fundamental design language introduced on the DeZir concept car but adds a more technical dimension – more functional but still highly sensuous,” adds Axel Breun, director of concept cars.
Renault Captur Concept
A CROSSOVER THAT’S ALL MUSCLE IN MOTION
In its proportions and fluid curves, Renault Captur evokes movement and lightness, yet at the same time displaying powerful and muscular all-terrain cues. Just as with DeZir, angles, corners and lines have given way to sensuous and natural forms. For the exterior designer, Julio Lozano, the main sources of inspiration were athletes and radical sports. “In designing Renault Captur, I began with the image of a sprinter on the starting blocks, his muscles tensed, and the energy unleashed when the starting pistol is fired,” he explains. The design also references equipment such as helmets, gloves and other protective gear used in radical sports, combining high technology with sophistication and lightness.
Renault Captur adopts the new frontal identity first presented by DeZir. As with DeZir, thisidentity has as its centerpiece a large Renault logo, set vertically against a dark surface so as to stand out as clearly as possible. Substantial, matt-finished wings reinforce the design’s visual strength. LEDs relay the direction indicator signal in a wave effect running the whole length of the vehicle.
Renault Captur does more than simply stir the emotions: it is also a practical and versatile vehicle. It is fitted with a hard convertible top which, once removed, reveals a carbon fiber framework. Renault Captur can thus transform itself from a coupe to a convertible, from an urban vehicle to an off-roader, while its overall sporty appeal is reinforced by its butterfly doors and big tires fitted to 22-inch black and white rims. With its bodywork finished in a spicy shade of orange, Renault Captur takes its cue from the red championed by DeZir. This color appears in a variety of different shades on materials both inside and outside the vehicle.

AN INTERIOR FULLY BATHED IN WARMTH AND LIGHTNESS
The orange theme has been carried over to the cabin which also features fluorescent highlights picked out by a constant stream of light. “My main sources of inspiration were the human body, outdoor sports and urban styling,” explains the color and trim designer, Kana Watanabe. “I wanted Renault Captur to radiate warmth and dynamism.”
The interior of Renault Captur is designed to be both welcoming and occupant-friendly. The impression of lightness expressed by the exterior is dominant here, too, with the front seats attached to the center console as if suspended in mid air. The passenger compartment is restrained and pure, with no superfluous equipment. Innovative and ingenious materials have been employed, allowing the designers to play with light and optical effects. The center console, door casings and dashboard are formed using a translucent material rather like a second skin. At the front of the cabin, this includes a glimpse of the high-tech fiber ropes, luminescent in places, that have been used for most of the passenger compartment. “The whole of the interior is designed around this network of stretched elastic ropes which bring to mind the worlds of sailing or mountain climbing, They use graphics and light to bring rhythm to the overall design and reinforce the dynamic feel of the vehicle while also ensuring a lighter feel inside the cabin,” explains the interior designer, Magali Gouraud-Borgers.
The aluminum pedals, carbon bucket-style front seats and steering wheel trimmed in grey textured leather reassert the sporting side of the design, in keeping with the original brief. The rear of the vehicle is a multipurpose area where the deck is lined with three layers of rope:
- The stretched cords are laid out in a way that allows items to be secured, thus providing a reconfigurable storage area;
- They also provide an opportunity for relaxation thanks to the supple elasticity of the structure. This is an entirely new type of comfort, a new form of seating akin to a hammock.
- Finally, it is possible to pull seatbacks from the side of the car to provide two full-sized rear seats, complete with seat belts and head restraints. This enables Renault Captur to accommodate four passengers.
Renault Captur Concept Interior
AN INNOVATIVE CROSSOVER THAT’S STRONG ON PERFORMANCE AND LIGHT ON FUEL
Renault Captur makes use of the Energy dCi 160 twin-turbo engine-concept, developed from the new Energy dCi 130. Downsizing is a key element in Renault’s strategy to meet its declared objective of being Europe’s leading automaker with regard to CO2 emissions. The range of electric vehicles will run alongside internal-combustion engined models that combine performance with reduced fuel consumption. Energy dCi 160 twin-turbo fits perfectly within this strategy. It produces 118kW (160hp) from a capacity of 1.6 liters – that’s a specific power output of 100hp per liter. Peak torque (380Nm) is available from as low as 1,750rpm, giving powerful acceleration from low revs, as well as refined performance under all driving conditions. Paired with a dual clutch EDC gearbox, this driveline promises genuinely enjoyable driving with CO2 emissions of 99 g per kilometer.
Renault Captur’s performance is further enhanced by the RX2®, a novel system that improves traction at low speeds. Should one of the two driven wheels lose traction, this entirely new mechanical self-locking differential transfers all or part of the engine’s torque to the wheel with the most grip. Driving on slippery roads and tracks thus remains smooth and effortless.
Renault Captur also marks the debut of the Visio-system, an innovation that uses a forwardfacing camera mounted at the top of the windscreen to provide driver-assistance functions. This new technology is able to embed synthesized images into real-time images of the road ahead displayed on a central screen; this is the principle of augmented reality, aiming to enhance the driver’s perception of the external world by superimposing purpose-designed elements. The system helps reduce driving stress, for a relaxed, reassuring ride.
